Sorry, not sorry…but I’m exhausted by this advice.

Not ONLY because it’s wrong, but because it’s given by our own family, close friends, and even people called “professionals.”

Trusted by parents who are already doubting themselves. Trusted enough to change the entire course of a child’s language journey.

Many of you are now adults trying to claw your way back to Spanish because someone once said one of these to your own parents. Many others have now listened to this advice and are on forums asking how to get your kids to answer you in Spanish.

That’s why Batman doesn’t answer in this meme. 😑 There’s nothing to say to advice that never should’ve been given.

We live in an age where we have to research for ourselves, question what we’re told, and choose carefully who we trust with our children’s futures.

And Spanish-first isn’t a mistake to fix. It’s a foundation to protect.

Start by tapping into what already exists. Playgroups, library meetups, community centers. @bilinguitos has done a lot of legwork for you. Check out bilinguitos.com/grupoplay to see if there’s a standing meetup near you.

If there isn’t…that might be your sign to start one. You’d be surprised how many are waiting for someone else to go first.

And if you’re already that person, I see how much courage and effort it takes! ✨

I truly can’t put into words how important this is. When your child hears another child speak Spanish…when they see other moms doing what you’re doing…it lands differently. It normalizes the language. It gives them belonging. It tells them, “this isn’t just for my house…other kids do it too.”
It’ll impact them and you in ways that you didn’t expect.
