A free library for families raising kids in Spanish

Over the years, I’ve shared a lot of free resources to support families raising their kids in Spanish. They’ve lived in DMs, old posts, story highlights, and saved links…they were getting hard to find!

So I put everything together into one simple library.

So many of us grew up inside a kind of abundance we didn’t have the words for…noise, people, food, cariño…a whole world that held us without trying.

And now we’re the adults. We’re the ones setting the table, calling the kids, keeping tradición alive in a world that moves so fast it forgets to sit down.

And maybe we’re rich now too, just in a different language. Our peques will feel it in the ways we show up, cook, repeat…and make home from scratch again.

Not ONLY because it’s wrong, but because it’s given by our own family, close friends, and even people called “professionals.”

Trusted by parents who are already doubting themselves. Trusted enough to change the entire course of a child’s language journey.

Many of you are now adults trying to claw your way back to Spanish because someone once said one of these to your own parents. Many others have now listened to this advice and are on forums asking how to get your kids to answer you in Spanish.

That’s why Batman doesn’t answer in this meme. 😑 There’s nothing to say to advice that never should’ve been given.

We live in an age where we have to research for ourselves, question what we’re told, and choose carefully who we trust with our children’s futures.

And Spanish-first isn’t a mistake to fix. It’s a foundation to protect.

If you’ve ever wished there were more people around you raising their kids the same way…this is for you.

Start by tapping into what already exists. Playgroups, library meetups, community centers. @bilinguitos has done a lot of legwork for you. Check out bilinguitos.com/grupoplay to see if there’s a standing meetup near you.

If there isn’t…that might be your sign to start one. You’d be surprised how many are waiting for someone else to go first.

And if you’re already that person, I see how much courage and effort it takes! ✨

I truly can’t put into words how important this is. When your child hears another child speak Spanish…when they see other moms doing what you’re doing…it lands differently. It normalizes the language. It gives them belonging. It tells them, “this isn’t just for my house…other kids do it too.”
It’ll impact them and you in ways that you didn’t expect.

This nacimiento hadn’t been put up in seven years. Life got busy. I had little kids. Time passed. Traditions paused quietly.

When I say “without saying bilingual on the box,” I mean without relying on a marketing label to promise depth that isn’t really there.

I’m talking about novelty “bilingual” products that rely on one translated word to make you feel like language has been taken care of or checked off the list.

The good news is…so many toys and games already support Spanish when YOU bring the language into play.

And to be clear…there is absolutely a place for bilingual toys, especially for families who are just starting their Spanish journey or rebuilding confidence with the language. Those tools can be helpful entry points and meaningful supports.

I just don’t want families to feel like the label alone is doing the work for them. Spanish doesn’t live in a button or a translation…it lives in how we play, respond, and connect.

Use the bilingual tools. Lean on them if you need to. Just don’t let a box tell you whether you’re raising a Spanish-speaking family.

And don’t feel the pressure to get the bilingual gift. If it brings you and your child together, Spanish has somewhere to live.
